The final round of the Masters each year is scheduled the second Sunday in April. Tentative future dates for upcoming Tournaments are:

   2009 April 6 - 12

At the 2006 Masters golf tournament, Phil Mickelson was avoiding mistakes and taking advantage of the occasional birdie opportunity, Phil Mickelson broke free of a pack full of most of the greatest players of the modern era on the back nine at Augusta National to win the 70th Masters. Mickelson earned his second Masters title in three years, and his third overall major out of the last nine.

Phil Mickelson won his second green jacket last year with a two-stroke victory over Tim Clark. Tim Clark holed out a shot from the right bunker on the 18th hole for 69 and a second-place finish. Mickelson also won in 2004, but hasn't had much success since his infamous meltdown at last year's U.S. Open, notwithstanding his recent victory at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Now you can get great odds on last years champion Phil Mickelson at Gamblerspalace.com

Phil Mickelson winning the 2006 Masters at Augusta National Golf Club. Mickelson's second Masters Tournament victory was his third major championship in nine starts, and second in a row after August's PGA Championship.

No one - not even world No. 1 Tiger Woods, who tied for third place Sunday - has that kind of winning percentage during that span. Before winning the 2004 Masters, Mickelson had been winless in 46 majors.

The 2006 US Master results

Winner: Phil Mickelson

He struck for four birdies in a final-round 3-under-par 69, which was good enough for a two-shot victory.

He finished at 7-under 281 on the toughened-up Augusta National Golf Club, the highest
winning total since Mike Weir shot that score in 2003.

Five players - Jose Maria Olazabal (66 on Sunday), Retief Goosen (69), Woods (70),
Fred Couples and Chad Campbell (71s) - tied for third place, three shots behind Mickelson.

COURSE OVERVIEW: Augusta National Golf Club gets its natural beauty honestly, as the venerable facility was built on the grounds of the former Fruitland Nurseries and each of the 18 holes is adorned with the trees and shrubs for which the holes are named. The course was created by club founder Bobby Jones and course architect Alister Mackenzie in 1933, and is best known for "Amen Corner" -- the 11th, 12th and 13th holes that often spell the difference between success and failure. Augusta National has been controversially lengthened in recent years, but remains a course where a delicate putting touch is mandatory.
