FedExCup Points: 500

Def. Champion: Lucas Glover

2012 Wells Fargo Championship Odds

The Quail Hollow Championship brings the PGA TOUR to Charlotte, North Carolina each year during the first week in May. Since its inauguration in 2003, the Championship has raised over $9.4 million for charity.

This PGA Tour Championship has became one of the most prestigious sporting events in the Charlotte region, and has been recognized as one of the top events on the PGA TOUR.

Throughout the Quail Hollow Club course, exquisitely manicured greens follow the unusual contours of the hills to present a challenge to even the sharpest short game. Course highlights include hole #7, which is transected by a serpentine pond complete with waterfall and rock wall; hole #10, one of four Par 5 holes, a winding 591-yard fairway lined with giant trees and tufted bunkers; signature hole #17, 217 yards over water; and, for a suitably challenging finish, hole #18, which must be negotiated over a deep creek bed that runs the length of the fairway.

2011 Quail Hollow Champion

Lucas Glover claimed his first U.S. PGA Tour victory since the 2009 U.S. Open, beating Jonathan Byrd in a playoff at the 2011 Wells Fargo Championship. Byrd mis hit a chip shot and bogeyed the first playoff hole yesterday at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, while Glover made par to take the $1.2 million winner’s check.

2010 Quail Hollow Winner

Rory Mcllroy who earned $ 1.17 million for his winning performance stated that he was seeing is shots and kept hitting it and seeing the lines of putts really well. It was just one of the days when everything went right. He scored a fiery course record of 10-under-par 62.

Mcllroy who will turn 21 this Tuesday became the youngest golfer to lift the winner’s trophy at PGA Tour after Tiger Woods who won the championship when he also was 20, in 1996.

2009 Quail Hollow Winner

With this win Mr.O’Hair joins some rarefied company, joining Adam Scott and Sergio Garcia as the 20 somethings with three or more wins. He’s moved to number 12 in the world rankings and fourth place in the President’s Cup standings. Good for him. May he win many more in the very near future.

With Tiger Woods in his rearview mirror, O’Hair, 26, closed with a 3-under 69 — the only player from the last nine groups to break 70 — and made enough key birdies that finishing with consecutive bogeys on the two toughest holes at Quail Hollow didn’t cost him.

Quail Hollow Championship Winners

2011 – Lucas Glover

2010 – Rory McIlroy

2009 – Sean O’Hair

2008 – Anthony Kim

2007 – Tiger Woods

2006 – Jim Furyk

2005 – Vijay Singh

Written by Jack White

TPC San Antonio in San Antonio, Texas will host the 2012 Valero Texas Open. The event takes place April 19-22 and the Golf Channel and CBS will televise the tournament.

This could be the weakest field for a tournament on the PGA Tour so far in 2012. Only one player in the top 50 in the world rankings is playing this week (KJ Choi) and everyone is taking the week off. Anyone can win this week and there is not a clean-cut favorite.

The TPC San Antonio course is a long course. The venue measures nearly 7600 yards and the fairways are not that easy to hit. This will be the third year that the Texas Valero Open will use the TPC San Antonio course and the two previous years were won by Adam Scott in 2010 and Brendan Steele last year.

With a scoring average of 73.67 a year ago, TPC San Antonio was the most difficult of 22 par 72s on the PGA TOUR schedule. It was the only course that ranked inside the top five most difficult in both driving accuracy (fifth; 51.65 percent) and greens in regulation (fourth; 56.32 percent). (Those stats ranked a respective sixth and seventh in 2010.) This is one of the toughest courses the professionals will play all year on the PGA Tour and maybe that is why a lot of players choose to skip this event.

Customarily breezy conditions will add to the considerable challenge and a threat of rain and thunderstorms creeps into the picture late Thursday, and it’s expected to linger throughout the day on Friday. The weekend looks dry and clear. High temperatures will camp out in the low 80s throughout. Look for the first player to get to and stay at double-digits under par to win the tournament.

Bet PGA Tour Golf Online – Horses for Courses

JB Holmes

Holmes took two weeks off following a T8 at Shell Houston, his second top 10 of the season. He is no stranger to the course and last year finished T11 and led the field in distance off the tee and ranked T10 in greens hit. This is a bombers course and JB can flat out bomb it! Bet ON Holmes in the weekly golf matchups.

Jimmy Walker

No, not the character on Good Times, I am talking about Jimmy Walker, the golfer who happens to be a local resident that shared third place here in 2010. Walker has three top 10s this season and should be in the mix this week playing at home. Walker will be Dynomite this week in San Antonio and is worth betting on.

2011 Valero Texas Open Winner

The 2011 Valero Texas Open at TPC San Antonio concluded on Sunday with Brendan Steele winning his first PGA Tour event. Steele won with an 8-under score, holding off Charley Hoffman and Kevin Chappell. He took home $1,266,504 for his winnings. He shot 1-under for the day, sinking two birdies and bogeying one hole in the front nine. He shot par on the back nine. Hoffman moved up six spots on the leaderboard following his 4-under for the final round. Two birdies and an eagle on the front nine, but a bogey on Hole No. 14 set him back. He kept Steele’s victory to a one streak by making a birdie on the final hole. Chappell entered the final round with a 5-under score and was at 8-under before a bogey on the 17th hole left him at 7-under.

2010 Valero Texas Open Winner

Australian Adam Scott won the 2010 Valero Texas Open, firing rounds of 66 and 67 on the final day to edge Fredrik Jacobson by one stroke at 14-under par, at the AT&T Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio. Friday’s round was canceled due to heavy rains, pushing Round 2 to Saturday and the final two rounds to Sunday.

2009 Valero Texas Open Winner

Zach Johnson won the Valero Texas Open for a second straight year. Johnson took the lead in a dramatic sudden-death playoff during the May 17 Open held at the La Cantera Resort Course in San Antonio.

Zurich Classic of New Orleans is a regular PGA Golf Tournament. It is played annually in New Orleans, Louisiana; it was always played in April, but was moved to March in 2008.

It was previously known by many different names, the Zurich Classic has been around for a long time and now is called the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

The tournament was first played in 1938, and with the exception of gaps in the ‘40s and ‘50s, this event has been played in the Crescent City ever since. From the event’s inception through 2004, it was played at a series of courses in New Orleans. It began at New Orleans City Park, where it was played until 1962.

Odds to Win the 2012 Zurich Classic of New Orleans

2011 Zurich Classic Winner

Bubba Watson wins Zurich Classic of New Orleans 2011 after a play-off with Webb Simpson

Big-hitting lefty Bubba Watson of the USA overcame a three-shot deficit over the final eight holes of regulation play and beat Webb Simpson in a play-off in the 2011 Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

2010 Zurich Classic Winner

Jason Bohn captures 2010 Zurich Classic of New Orleans. This is Bohn’s second victory on the PGA Tour and the first since 2005 when he won the B.C. Open. Bohn who had his 37th birthday on Saturday gave himself a great present by holding off Jeff Overton who had a 6-under 66 final round to go 16-under for the tournament and tied Bohn twice on Sunday for the lead but Bohn’s three birdies in the final 9-holes were to much to overcome. Bohn’s prize money is 1.152 million for the win.

2009 Zurich Classic Winner

Jerry Kelly’s three-stroke lead is the largest 54-hole lead in this event since Calvin Peete owned a five-shot advantage back in 1986.

The 2012 Masters Tournament will be the 75th Masters Tournament and is scheduled to be played from April 2 to April 8 at Augusta National Golf Club. This will be first major championship of the 2012 season.

The Masters is all about tradition – from the green jacket to “Amen Corner,” everything is special about Masters Week in Augusta, Georgia. With a history dating back to 1934, the Masters is also one of the oldest golf tournaments around in addition to being arguably the most important.

Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts decided to hold a golf tournament in 1934. The tournament was originally called the Augusta National Invitation Tournament, but the name changed in 1939 when Clifford Roberts, one of the owners of the Augusta National Course, was able to change the name to “The Masters”. Since the beginning Roberts suggested calling it the Masters, but Jones thought that was overreaching a bit so they settled on the name Augusta National Invitation Tournament. After drawing a field of what was indeed the masters of the game of golf for five years in a row, they switched back to the original name and in 1939 the Masters Pro Golf Tournament was played at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, GA. The Masters was first televised in 1956, but only for the last three holes of the course. In 1967, the Masters was televised for the first time overseas, when the BBC used satellite to transmit it to millions of viewers around the world. The Masters has been played every year since then except for 1943, 1944 and 1945 when cattle were allowed to graze on the greens to help the war effort. The winner of the Masters is awarded the Green Jacket. The Masters Golf Green jacket Winners keep their jacket for the first year after their first victory, then return it to the club to wear during tournament week each following year. The tradition that began in 1949, when Sam Snead was the winner. The Green Jacket is only allowed to be removed from Augusta National by the reigning champion, after which it must remain at the club. The only exception to this rule is Gary Player, who failed to return his jacket after his 1961 victory, despite the club’s insistence that he do so.

In addition to a cash award, the winner of the tournament is presented with a distinctive green jacket, awarded since 1949, and highly coveted among professional golfers. The green coat is actually the official coat worn by members of Augusta National while on the club grounds; each Masters winner becomes an honorary member of the club. Winners keep their jacket for the first year after their first victory, then return it to the club to wear during tournament week each following year.

The US Masters Golf Results and Winners

2011 US Masters Winner:

Charl Schwartzel, a 26-year-old South African, won the 2011 Masters Tournament with a final score of 13-under. Schwartzel entered the day at eight-under but moved to 11-under following a birdie on the first hole of the day and an eagle two holes later. A bogey put him at 10-under, but he came on strong in holes No. 15-18, making birdie on all four to go to 14-under.

2010 US Masters Winner:

Phil Mickelson delights Augusta by overshadowing Tiger Woods. Phil Mickelson soaked up a scene he knows all too well as he climbed the steep hill toward the 18th green at Augusta National to claim another green jacket. Only when he rapped in one last birdie for a 3-stroke victory did this Masters get even better.

The signature moment came on the 13th, a hole Mickelson has dominated like no other at Augusta. With a 2-shot lead, he was stuck between two Georgia pines and had just over 200 yards to the hole. He never considered anything but a shot at the green.

2009 US Master Winner:

In continuing with the trend of surprise winners at the US Masters golf tournament, Angel Cabrera became the latest US Masters winner in 2009.

Kenny Perry seemed to have it in his grasp but he contrived to bogie both 17 and 18 under intense pressure to fall back into the play-off. The Play-Off was a tense affair that first saw Campbell get eliminated and then Perry to give Angel Cabrera the famous Green Jacket in a thrilling finish. Cabrera was solid all week and he became the first Argentine ever to win the US Masters in what is likely to be the highlight of his career.

2008 US Master Winner:

For the second year in a row, we have a Masters champion who didn’t seem to have the credentials to win such a prestigious tournament. Last year, it was Zach Johnson, who had won only a single PGA Tour event before his victory at Augusta National. Now, it is Immelman, also a winner of just one title before Sunday, looking as though he was made to wear a green jacket.

Immelman slept on the lead for three nights, something not accomplished by a champion here since Seve Ballesteros in 1980. Immelman, a 28-year-old with a polished swing, who finally realized his potential in the wicked wind of Augusta and a final round that yielded only four rounds under par. Immelman certainly had a fine résumé. After last year’s Wachovia Championship on the PGA Tour, he had risen to No. 12 in the Official World Golf Ranking. He was coming off a 2006 rookie of the year season, when he won the Western Open. And he had won three European Tour titles. Immelman is the sixth player since 1997 to win his first major at The Masters, but that list includes Woods, Mark O’Meara, Mike Weir and Phil Mickelson, all of whom built a reputation before winning at Augusta National. And he joins a long list of surprise major championship winners, especially in recent years.

2007 US Master Winner:

Zach Johnson proved that when he plays his own game, he’s capable of winning at golf’s highest levels. Johnson, a 31-year-old Iowan, played the round of his life at Augusta National Golf Club. Challenged by some of the game’s greatest champions, among them four-time winner Tiger Woods and two-time U.S. Open champion Retief Goosen, Johnson relied on his skill, guile and heart to shoot a final round three-under-par 69 for a 289 total, and a two-shot victory in the Masters.

2006 US Master Winner:

At the 2006 Masters golf tournament, Phil Mickelson was avoiding mistakes and taking advantage of the occasional birdie opportunity, Phil Mickelson broke free of a pack full of most of the greatest players of the modern era on the back nine at Augusta National to win the 70th Masters. Mickelson earned his second Masters title in three years, and his third overall major out of the last nine.

Doral is called the Blue Monster because when it first was built back in 1960, people said that Alfred Kaskel was creating a “monster” in the middle of a swamp. When the course opened, it was known as the “Blue” course. With its swirling winds, water hazards and tough play, it soon became known as the “Blue Monster.”

The Blue Monster was designed by Dick Wilson design and later reworked by Raymond Floyd, the Blue Monster has been hosting PGA Tour events for more than 40 years. The 7,125-yard course is known for its long fairways, undulating greens, thick rough and strategic bunkers.

With its frequent star turns on television, the Blue Monster overshadows its Doral siblings, the Gold, Red, Silver and Great White courses. While all offer excellent golf, only the Great White, named for designer Greg Norman, is mentioned in the same breath as the Blue. Also topping 7,000 yards, its difficulty wins fans and detractors in equal number.

The four “other” Doral courses share some common factors. One is water: The drink is a factor on most of the 72 holes. Another is distraction. Planes buzz overhead on route to the airport, and the Silver, Gold and Red snake course.

WGC Cadillac Championship Results:

Nick Watney won WGC-Cadillac Championship in 2011

Nick Watney won the 2011 WGC-Cadillac Championship and keeping a bet going with his caddie, Chad Reynolds. Watney shot a final-round 67 to beat Dustin Johnson by two and pick up the biggest win of his career, while Tiger Woods closed with a 66. Watney closed with a 5-under 67 with a birdie, with Johnson behind him in the 18th fairway after a big drive of his own. Johnson hit a 9-iron that covered the flag and settled 8 feet away. Typical of his final round, he missed it and shot 71..

Ernie Els won WGC-Cadillac Championship in 2010

WGC 2010 CA Championship winner Ernie Els has risen 12 spots to 8th place in the Official World Golf Ranking after his win at Doral Golf Resort at the weekend. The PGA golf winner ended a two years without a win in superb style at the WGC-CA Championship in Miami with a final round of 66 for an 18-under-par total and four stroke win over fellow South African Charl Schwartzel.

Mickelson won WGC-Cadillac Championship in 2009

Phil Mickelson closed with seven straight pars for a 3-under 69 to win the CA Championship after a dynamic duel at Doral. It was not a easy win, a rising star Nick Watney gave Phil all he could handle. Watney narrowly missed out on a happy ending to an inspiring duel by leaving a tying birdie putt on the 72nd hole one turn short of the cup.

Ogilvy won WGC-Cadillac Championship in 2008

With a trusty wedge and a steady hand, Ogilvy closed out the weather-suspended final round of the CA Championship with nine straight pars Monday morning to score a wire-to-wire victory.

He didn’t just end Woods’ run of seven consecutive worldwide victories and five straight PGA Tour wins. He held off three other major-championship winners closing in on him.

With a final-round one-under-par 71, Ogilvy claimed the $1.35-million first-place check and the Gene Sarazen Trophy. His 17-under 271 total was a shot better than three-time major-championship winner Vijay Singh (68), two-time U.S. Open winner Retief Goosen (68) and U.S. Open winner Jim Furyk (68).
