The Masters
golf tournament Augusta National - Information
2008 Masters Info: There is
something truly magical about the Masters golf tournament and it really is a
tradition unlike any other.
| April 10-13, 2008 - Augusta, Georgia
It is the first of the four golf majors, and so has the
potential to set the winner on the way to a historic Golf Grand Slam.
Past Masters winners include a glittering array of golfing greats: Jack
Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Jimmy Demaret, Sam Snead, Ben Hogan, Gary
Player, Nick Faldo, Seve Ballesteros, Jose Maria Olazabal, Tiger Woods
and many other stars too numerous to mention. |

For over 60 years the world's best golfers have gathered at
Augusta to lay claim to the most coveted prize in all of golf; the famous
Green Jacket. By doing so, one-by-one, the sport's greatest legends stamp
their names into the annuls of golf history to be forever immortalized as
Masters Champions.
Though Tiger Woods seems to have the pro golfing world by
the throat, he has been dealing with stiff competition at Augusta. Phil
Mickelson finally wrestled the Green Jacket away from Tiger in 2004, and
then donned it again in 2006. In 2007 champion Zach Johnson made
history at The Masters. If you're a fan of oddly colored formal wear, then
you ought to check out US Masters Golf odds, on who will get the winner's
honor this year.
The favorite for the prestigious tournament is of course Tiger
Woods. Woods already owns four green jackets and will likely be
favored in this tournament for the rest of his golfing career.
Woods last won at Augusta in 2005 and after finishing tied for
third last year he is a 5/4 favorite at
Gamblerspalace.com to
reclaim the coveted green jacket this year.

Trevor Immelman proved himself a worthy
champion on Sunday, but it's fair to say that a number of his
challengers likely will be spending some quality time puzzling over
what might have been.
Immelman handled the wind and pressure of Augusta National far better
than anyone chasing him Sunday to win The Masters, the first South
African in a green jacket in 30 years.
Immelman held it together around Amen Corner and stretched his lead to
as many as six shots on the back nine, taking the life out of a
Masters that began with so much hype. |

A two-putt par on the final hole gave him a 3-over 75,
matching the highest final round by a Masters champion. Even so, it was good
enough for a three-shot victory over Tiger Woods, whose hopes for a calendar
Grand Slam ended with a thud.
Woods never got within five shots of the lead when he was on the course,
twice missed birdie putts inside 8 feet and had to settle for a 72 and his
second consecutive runner-up finish in The Masters.
